Bugs! / Signature Bug on the New iPad
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:01:42 am »
A bug has been reported by users of the New iPad that the signature areas are not clickable, which in turn does not allow the signing of contracts.

This cause of this issue has been determined to be the new retina display, and we have submitted an update to Apple which resolves the issue.  The update was submitted to Apple on March 21st, and it generally takes about a week for Apple to review and release our updates.

Bugs! / Non-US date pickers
« on: November 15, 2011, 08:34:58 pm »
Bug Report: The date pickers do not save the selected values when a region other than US is selected in the iPad's settings.

Workaround: While this is being corrected in the app, you can get around this issue by swapping out the "Date" and "Date Time" keywords with "Small Text" keywords.  By using Small Text keywords, you can type in the dates to be whatever you would like them to be, and no date picker will be used.

Bugs! / Anonymous iTunes bug reports aren't very helpful (for anyone).
« on: November 12, 2011, 11:24:23 am »
Today we received our first a 1-star rating, along with the comment "Cannot type data into fields due to keyboard bug. Complete waste of money."  Although I can empathize with the purchaser, his non-specific comment and the accompanying low rating are less than useful.  Since this customer chose to post his comment through the iTunes rating area instead of talking with us about it, we cannot get more details about the error, we cannot attempt to debug it, and we cannot attempt to help him in any way.  We would love to help him out but since iTunes does not display any contact information, we cannot do that.

If you find any bugs in the application, please either report them here or send us an email through the contact form on our website (http://www.portablecontracts.com).   We will do our best to get back with you as quickly as possible, and we will get the bugs squashed as fast as we can.

Bugs! / Droplist Bug
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:13:15 am »
Bug: When multiple droplists are being used on the same contract, each droplist is displaying only the first droplist's options when creating the contract.

Status:  This bug has been squashed, and the updated app has been submitted to Apple for review.

Feature Requests / Submitted Via Email
« on: November 02, 2011, 11:10:36 am »
Below are a couple of feature requests that have previously been submitted via email:

  • Develop Portable Contracts for Android
  • Print the contracts directly from the iPad
  • Add a way to include a logo at the top of the contracts

We cannot develop every item that is suggested, but we will most definitely take all of your suggestions into consideration.

User Submitted Contract Templates / General Template Information
« on: November 02, 2011, 02:31:21 am »
How to copy a template to the Portable Contracts application
Copying a template to your Portable Contracts application is easily done through email.  Simply copy the template text and paste it into an email addresses to yourself.  Then check your email on your iPad and copy the template text found in the email and paste it into a new template page within the Portable Contracts application.

If you are accessing this forum on your iPad you can copy the template text directly from this forum and paste it into your template area without needing to email it first.

How to insert keywords into custom templates created outside of the application
Keywords are created using three pieces of information: Keyword, Keyword Type, Description
The format for the three pieces of information is as follows: <<Keyword||Keyword Type||Description>>
An example of this would be: <<Wedding Date||Date||The date of the wedding.>>

Using this format you can create your templates in the word processor or text editor of your choice, and later import them into the application.

Available Keyword Types
Small Text - Used for items such as a business name.
Large Text - Used for items such as a contract addenda.
Date - Used for items such as payment deadlines.
Date Time - Used for items such as a service contracted for a specific date and time.
Signature - Used wherever a signature is required, such as at the bottom of a contract.
Initials - Used wherever initials are required, such as next to important paragraphs within a contract.
Droplist - Used wherever you or your clients have multiple choices, such as selecting contract options.
iCal DateTime - Used in place of the "Date Time" keyword type when you want the item to be automatically added to your calendar.  Items added to your calendar are given the name "Keyword - Client Name" and automatically get an alert setup one day before the event takes place.  For example, if your keyword was named "Service Call Date" and your client's name was Al Thornton the calendar item would be titled "Service Call Date - Al Thornton."
